Description

This stylish champagne is a blend of wines from more than 55 crus or villages and between 10 and 20% of reserve wines are used.

Bright salmon in colour, with orange tones, this wine is produced by the maceration method using Pinot Noirs from 10 Montagne de Reims villages, including Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois and Tours-sur-Marne. Founded over 200 years ago in 1812, Laurent-Perrier is one of the most distinguished family-owned Champagne Houses. We tasted some rich and generous vins clairs with Chef de Cave Michel Fauconnet and sampled previews of upcoming Vintage 2008 and future Grand Siècle NV.I am aware that Vinatis has implemented a data protection policy that can be consulted here and that I can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link found in each newsletter. Elegant and fruity at the same time with a quick invitation from bright, pure cherryish notes and then filled out handsomely by whiffs of chalky soils and well-integrated, rich and uplifting yeast-driven scents, this wine manages to be both vigorous and layered at one and the same time. Now one of the region's largest producers, they are perhaps best known for Cuvée Rosé, the most recognised rosé champagne on the planet. Distinguished by the chubby round hipped bottle, this rosé Champagne has become highly successful, created unusually from 100% Pinot Noir from the best vineyards, and using, for a few days only, the saignée method (contact with the red grape skins) rather than the addition of red wine.

This technique gives it the highly expressive bouquet and fresh berry flavours that have made it a benchmark for rosé Champagnes.

In 1948 it was Mary-Louise's son Bernard who took over the reigns becoming Laurent-Perrier's Chairman and Chief Executive, he remained and important part of the buiness until his death in 2010. Sadly, de Nonancourt passed away in 2010 and Laurent-Perrier is now managed by his two daughters, Alexandra and Stéphanie alongside Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet and has become one of the region's largest producers, they are perhaps best known for Cuvée Rosé, the most recognised rosé champagne on the planet. He (re)created the style of Laurent Perrier: independent spirit, creativity, audacity with always more Chardonnay in the blendings.
