But, nevertheless this was a funny, sad, happy and difficult read. I certainly felt all the emotions. It is also full of examples of where I have fallen WAY short in my role as a man, husband, father, brother, and friend responsibility / no excuses. There are always constraints. The question is what will you do in spite of them. Every child needs teaching training, modeling in the areas of character, relationships, identity, mission

In fact, there was a lot of light in this novel. From love interest Jory (who you can’t help falling in love with) to dear friend Arthur (the bow tie scene squeezed my heart), Turner has cleverly blended the every day with the extraordinary, and sadness with joy to make an uplifting and tender read. It is a story about digging deep for strength you never knew you had, and finding magic in the little things that were there all along. Stop EVERYTHING and read this! Funny, tender and beautifully observed. Loved, loved, LOVED it!? Cathy Bramley She has to contend with a teenage niece, Polly, who is hormonal, emotional and has so much she is holding in, away from everyone else. The way their connection develops and goes from breaking point to a true sense of connection is wonderful. After graduating with first-class honours in Philosophy from The University of Exeter, she dabbled in careers in finance then higher education before a 'warts and all' parenting blog she'd started to let off steam gathered unexpected momentum and writing became her full-time job.Somehow, in her debut novel Sarah Turner manages to do both with a deftness of touch that makes for a memorable and lovely read. I want and NEED a book all about Albert and his life. I fell hard for the next door neighbour 💕 Sarah Turner if you are reading this review. Please write a book about Albert 😁 his story needs to be told. Do you go into a book completely blind? I follow Sarah Turner aka The Unmumsy mum on the socials and have followed her journey as a mother. Agreeing and championing what she reveals and says. So when I saw that she had written a novel, a work of fiction I knew I wanted to read it but also I had my preconceived ideas. I thought the book would be predictable, light and fluffy and a rom com. Why? I don't know why? I was completely wrong 💕

It's common sense stuff. Which is fine, but not exactly what I was expecting from this one. I suppose I'll take responsibility for my internal assumptions about what I would learn from Stepping Up. It's not YOU, book, it's me.Providing for your family is more than meeting physical needs. It also means taking responsibility to provide for emotional and spiritual needs. This book needs all the stars! It made me laugh, it made me cry and I just want to start it all over again.' What a powerful, amazing, life-changing book. Each chapter focuses on a different way of Stepping Up, a specific behavior, what Stepping up means, what it doesn't mean, and includes personal stories from folks who have stepped up to bring the ideas to life. Whether you are a young man or are nearing the end of your life, my charge to you is this: press into the battle, fill Stepping Up is Sarah's first novel, the spark of an idea coming from a conversation about will-writing and more specifically guardianship, should the unthinkable happen.
