Tsukasa's introduction, with something removed as a direct tie-in to the Little Mermaid, does not have the baseball-bat-to-the-stomach feel it did in the manga. It was really the best way possible to introduce right off the bat so many things about how scary his character can be. The main thing about this anime is that the adaptation is a play by play high-budget animatic of the manga. A good adaptation should add onto the original, but it follows it to a T; there's no new shots, no new content to really balance out what was removed and Nene is the main protagonist of the series as well as a fifteen year old high school student. In the beginning of the book she is so desperate to have a boyfriend that she throws herself at any guy who shows her attention. After she gets cursed she learns that her desire to have a boyfriend was really just her wanting someone to love her. It didn’t matter who it was, she just wanted someone to care about her. Nene continues this habit of being boycrazy throughout the series, which makes me think if she's still trying to fill that void or if she's just a hopeless romantic. I feel like this is a pretty typical thing that many people experience in their teens. They are constantly surrounded by people in relationships and media that implies that happiness comes from being in a romantic relationship. This can lead to them feeling that they have to have a significant other or they are worthless or that no one will ever love them that way. Nene thinks that her “dycon legs” is why she’ll never be in a relationship, which I’m sure many girls can relate to one way or another. That their body will never be good enough to someone to actually love them because they will find it disgusting. I think that Nene is one of the best written characters in terms of relatability. Synopsis: "Hanako-san, Hanako-san...are you there?" At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school's Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls' bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom...but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy's Hanako-san...is a boy! Pineda, Rafael Antonio (September 13, 2023). "After-School Hanako-kun Anime's Video Reveals Ending Theme Song". Anime News Network . Without going into details, the ambiguity and buildup surrounding Mitsuba's character is lost since Hell of Mirrors was rearranged to be much, much sooner.Apart from the Seven Mysteries, there are other, less powerful supernaturals that roam the school. They rely on student rumors to gain power, unlike the Mysteries who already have theirs so popular and widespread among the student body. Sherman, Jennifer (July 4, 2019). I would risk it all for Hanako. I love my sweet baby boy so much. I would kill for him. I would die for him. I would sell my soul for him. I just adore him so much 😭💖 Like, I can’t even put into words why I adore him so much. I just look at his precious face and want to weep. Plus, I know his story just gets more complex as time goes on, and I just wanna hug him until we both burst. The manga is licensed in North America by Yen Press. An anime television series adaptation produced by Lerche aired from January to March 2020. A new anime project was announced in December 2022, and was subsequently described as a "restart" of the series. The "first installment" of the project, an adaptation of After-School Hanako-kun, aired from October to November 2023; a four-episode sequel is set to premiere in Q4 2024. A second season of the original anime has also been announced.No. 6 – The Reaper Representative: Hakubo On the night of tsukimi, the Reaper is rumored to steal the lives of those who fall asleep while waiting to view the moon and can be heard playing a melody on the flute by individuals who will die soon. As a result, people weave baskets all night to stay awake and protect those who can hear the melody. The current No. 6 is Shinigami-sama, the God of Death. His Boundary, which lies below the school, is the closest one to the Far Shore. His yorishiro is a girl named Sumire, an ancestor of Aoi who he guarded until she was sacrificed. No. 7 – Hanako-san of the Toilet ( トイレのはなこさん, Toire no Hanako-san) Representative: Hanako-Kun The most famous School Mystery. Hanako is referred to as a female, but Hanako is actually a male. He has the power to grant wishes to the living but as compensation, he must take something dear to them in return. Kamome Academy Supernaturals [ edit ] Hanoko is a bathroom ghost who is one of the Seven Wonders of the school. Since he saved Nene from being a fish her whole life, he now hangs around her all the time. To me it seems like this whole book is just Hanoko trying to make up for him killing his brother. All he does is give and give, not only helping the school but Nene as well. The only time I remember him getting upset is when someone hurts Nene or when he sees his brother for the first time in 20 years. Even when Kou tells Nene that he murdered someone, he only puts a seal on Kou’s staff. Even after Kou tries to exercise him, Hanoko hopes Kou will be successful in exercising him one day. When Nene is a few short days from her death he allows one of the seven wonders to trap her in a picture, in hopes that her life span will increase. He is willing to sacrifice his closest friend for her own benefit. Knowing it will leave him all alone again. He isn’t even sure if his plan will work. He doesn't even care if she ends up hating him, he just wants her to be happy and safe in the painting world.
