Description

I loved the illustrations, the detail and the way they convey feeling was totally absorbing. Yet again, this wasn't really the kind of thing I would normally read but, once again, I am so glad I did! Disclaimer: Many thanks to NoBrow for the opportunity to read and review. Please assure that my opinions are honest.

Imagine a vault so cavernous that it could contain all the world's greatest treasures and relics, from mummified remains of ancient monarchs to glistening swords brandished by legendary warriors. How could someone come into possession of such a collection. Who is Professor Brownstone? In this idea, pupils use drama to explore every element of the text including language, grammar and punctuation. In this first idea, we look at exploring the front cover of the book to make predictions and connections. Hear the story of the very first items in this collection as we journey to the land of the Vikings. A place filled with magical objects, powerful gods and mythical beasts to be conquered! Imagine a vault so cavernous that it could contain all the world's greatest treasures and relics, from mummified remains of ancient monarchs to glistening swords brandished by legendary warriors. Who could be in charge of such a vault and how did he come into possession of such a unique collection? Who is...Professor Brownstone? Plus in science take the chance to go on a sound walk around the house or outdoors. You are also going to learn about the only British king with 'the Great' after his name. A fantastic version of a Norse myth that falls between a picture book for older readers and a graphic novel, this is a promising start to an attractive adventure series that should appeal to boys and girls.

Joe Todd-Stanton grew up in Brighton and studied at UWE Bristol, receiving a first class degree in Illustration. As well as writing and illustrating books for Flyingeye Joe has also been commissioned to work for clients such as Oxford University Press, Bloomsbury and Usborne Publishing. Arthur is the oddball in his village. He likes to hear old legends from the town crazy lady and cobble together costumes to dress up like his favorite heroes. Everyone thinks he's a weakling with no real strengths but when the great fire in his village is stamped out by Fenrir, Loki's evil giant dog, and the whole town is about to freeze forever it will take Arthur's knowledge of ancient Norse mythology to save the day! From the cover... Imagine a vault so cavernous that it could contain all the world's greatest treasures and relics, from mummified remains of ancient monarchs to glistening swords brandished by legendary warriors. How could someone come into possession of such a collection. Who is Professor Brownstone? In this reading resource, we have taken some of the lovely vocabulary used by Joe Todd-Stanton and your class must look at the words and identify their meanings or try to explain in their own words what they think the word means. In this idea, pupils explore where different stereotypes come from and discuss how to challenge them. Odd, a crippled orphan in a Viking village, isn't of much interest to his clan. When he leaves for adventure, he finds three talking animals that are actually gods - and they need his help. This is a wonderfully wintry, magical and mythical story. After reading the first half of Arthur and the Golden Rope book, your class can complete this comprehension and answer a range of questions based on their understanding, ability to retrieve information and apply their literacy knowledge.

I recommend ages 7-10 to read this magnificent book. If you like creativity ,adventure and fantasy then I really suggest this book. Berserk Tyr was the Viking God of War. Warriors called Berserkir prepared for battle by wearing bearskin cloaks and working themselves into a frenzy. Táto kniha rozpráva príbeh o prvom členovi tejto odvážnej rodiny, o islandskom chlapcovi menom Artúr, o jeho udatnosti a hrdinských činoch. In this idea, we look at how Alan Peat's Exciting Sentences can help more effective research to learn facts about Iceland. This book is about a little boy who is considered to be weird/trouble because he is inquisitive and likes to create positions. Keď obrovský vlk Fenrir uhasil veľký oheň a hrozí, že každý dom v mestečku do týždňa premrzne a obyvatelia zahynú, Artúr sa stane vyvoleným, aby vyhľadal pomoc boha Thora.
